Here are a few of our Frequently Asked Questions regarding traveling to Casa de Penasco Luxury Beach Homes in Puerto Penasco Mexico, hopefully this will make your decision to visit us, just a bit easier.

Is the US/Mexico Border open? YES! The Lukeville/Sonyota border crossing is OPEN for travel. It's important to note for planning, the border closes at 8pm SHARP, if you are not across the line you'll either need to turn around or find lodging close to the border. It reopens at 6am. On busy weekends (Fridays entering Mexico and Sundays coming home) the wait to cross can be in excess of 2 hours

Will I have to quarantine upon return from Mexico? There are currently no requirements in place by the US government or state officials that require you to quarantine upon your return from Puerto Penasco, however we encourage you to check with your employer.

Must I have a negative Covid-19 test to reenter the United States? Currently, NO! The US Government is requiring a negative COVID test to return to the US only for re-entering via air travel. There is no process in place for US citizens to check your COVID status at the Lukeville border crossing. Different rules apply for non-citizens, so please check with official US Travel details.

Is a passport required to reenter the United States? A passport is required to reenter the US after international travel for all adults over the age of 16. However, if your passport is expired, you accidently left it home, or you have applied for it, but haven’t received it yet: A drivers license and birth certificate are valid substitute forms of identification. Keep in mind you may be subject to further questioning to authenticate your citizenship. A child under the age of 16 can cross with passport or birth certificate.

Is the beach open? Yes the beach is open.

Are restaurants/tourist locations open? Yes, most restaurants are open for take out and dine in. There are restrictions on the number of people allowed within the building. You must have your temperature taken, hands sanitized and wear a mask anytime you get up from your table. In addition all staff must adhere to the same regulations. Please check with each destination for any changes in operating hours.

Have you enhanced your cleaning procedures? The short answer is yes, we've increased our cleaning procedures and streamlined our checkin process. You can review our COVID Procedures HERE.

What are the border crossing hours? The international border crossing closes both north/south entry at 8 pm sharp. It does not matter if you are waiting in line to be cleared by officials. Please plan your trip accordingly, providing plenty of time to que for federal inspection. Federal holidays have adjusted border hours, but check in advance.

Is there a curfew in Rocky Point? Currently no, but the city has been known to implement them when COVID is surging locally. You'll be provided the current status prior to checkin.
